In the 21st century humanity will have to evolve through a more efficient way of life as our resources are beginning to be insufficient for our needs. This Human Electric Hybrid Vehicle uses the power of your muscles as well electricity stored in the batteries. It allows smooth and constant velocity both uphill (with the help of the electric motor), as well as downhill (when the wheel acts as a generator and charges the batteries). The vehicle can turn 360 degrees maintaining stability all the time. Additional power is acquired from photovoltaic placed on top of the vehicle as well as during de-acceleration from regenerative braking. Elderly and handicapped people that are unable to provide enough kinetic energy can also charge the batteries directly from the grid. A vehicle such as this makes extensive use of renewable energy possible and lead to a more sustainable fossil fuel future. Video after the jump.

harnessing-the-wind-wind-boat-sets-sail_69.jpgNow, you have to believe that wind has the power to propel even a 462ft steel ship, assuring a ‘greener’ future, one can dare to dream of. Believing in the ‘green age’ buzzwords, the cargo vessel - MS Beluga — owners have come up with an innovative way to prove that the modern steel ships can replace diesel engines with nature’s power wind.
The crew will deploy a 160 square-meter kite - named strong>SkySail — that will fly more than 600ft above the vessel, during its journey from Bremen to Venezuela. At this height, the winds are stronger and more consistent than at sea level. And, if this venture is successful, the kite will not just significantly reduce carbon emissions, but also cut diesel consumption by up to 20 per cent! This in turn, will save a day’s fuel costs by £800!

Swiss ski resort of Verbier ? The playground of Russian oligarchs

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

verbier_48.jpgThe ?5,000 cocktail, the ?50,000-a-week chalet and the ?500,000 impulse purchase! This is what Coco Club, the first luxury VIP club in the Alps, in the glamorous Swiss ski resort of Verbier is offering to the guests from round the globe this season. Verbier has become Russian oligarchs’ playground where they spend, spend, and simply spend. The place has been billed as one of the most expensive in the Alps and on the earth. The club’s wallpaper is hand-painted, curtains are fur and one of the walls is covered in ?30,000 worth of gold leaf. Although, the temperature outside is freezing at minus 12, but it?s baking hot inside. The cheapest champagne costs more than ?100 a bottle while the most expensive demands nearly ?11,000. Princes William and Harry are regulars at the club?s Colin Barber’s bar. Hugh Grant, Jemima Khan, Victoria Beckham and Jamie Oliver are all regular visitors.

Coco club is just the start. Verbier, the lavish ski resort in the Swiss Alps, will soon be home to a ski lodge by Richard Branson, which would probably be the world?s most expensive. The man has spent a cool ?3.5 million on a sumptuous makeover on The Lodge, which was once a bare wooden shack. His ski lodge will entertain the guests with an underground swimming pool and spa, nine staff and a personal chef. A week?s stay in the season is priced at ?57,000. This price includes accommodation for 18 guests, but it excludes the cost of the ski pass.

Verbier?s third new opening is Gul Coskun’s art gallery selling expensive pop art to the juvenile crowd. Huge Andy Warhol images of Mickey Mouse and Santa Claus (with beard drawn in diamond dust) is visible from outside. The art gallery is attached to the front of one of Verbier’s best-known hotels, the Rosalp. Coskun, who also owns a gallery in Chelsea, is selling works by Warhol, Robert Indiana and Roy Lichtenstein.

A Warhol portrait of Muhammad Ali is on sale for ?500,000. An aluminum sculpture by Robert Indiana that spells out the word ‘LOVE’ in huge capital letters is priced at ?350,000. Warhol’s diamond-done Santa Claus is bit (just a bit) cheap at ?35,000. Coskun’s shop has become a distinguished place in Verbier for the visitors.

Charlie Berman, 49, a modest millionaire City banker who has been visiting the place since first arriving 25 years ago says that although Verbier has always attracted the seriously wealthy, it’s primarily a sporting venue. The arrival of the Russian oligarchs has moved Verbier?s opulence up a notch.

To help your kid drain away all that unnecessary energy, and stay active and fit, trampoline is the best form of exercise. But somehow children love to play in cozy places, hiding in cupboards and tents to screen away from people around. Here we have a trampoline that comes as a hideaway den/spacecraft, or whatever the little one wants to imagine it to be. It’s made out of UV Stabilized polyester, which can be easily folded when the child wants to jump on the trampoline, and once the dome has been erected, there cannot be any jumping activity on it. It could grant your child a hideout to give him some privacy when he needs to spend some time with his friends or maybe with himself alone. It comes with two entry and exit doors and four windows.
